Rebuilding the Riverine Fleet (19 Jun 2007) By Andrew Scutro - Staff writer Navy Times  Northrop Grumman's leading-edge navigation, surveillance, network command and control systems into this vessel. ACB’s design is 41 feet long with a 9-foot-11-inch beam and a draft of only 28 inches. Powered by two Cummins QSC 8.3-liter, 540 HP turbocharged diesel engines, the Joint Multi-mission Expeditionary Craft has a top speed of 48 miles per hour. With a crew of four, the new boat has room for another two observers and, depending on the mission, can also ferry a 14-member combat team or various cargoes up rivers or streams.  Patented hull is a mature design engineered for exceptionally responsive performance, safety, and survivability flotation. Hit a log, hit a rock, tear the hull, stay afloat, stay alive.  Modified v-hull, reverse chine, and integrated flotation chambers allow each boat to ride on top of the water with incredible stability and a shock mitigated ride.  Combination of the hull engineering and the lightweight design equates to superior fuel efficiency.
