| The LSSC (Light SEAL Support Craft)
was designed for squad-sized operations. It was an aluminum twenty-four foot
long boat with a low silhouette and a nine-foot beam. With twin high-performance
engines powering jet pumps, this boat really moved. The boat came with radar
and numerous gun positions, including a .50 caliber machine gun on the stern.
The cockpit, crew, and engine compartments were protected with ceramic armor
plating. MST-Two Detachment Golf used this boat sparingly with a three-man
crew. Once it returned with a baseball size dent in the hull where a B-40 rocket
hit, but did not explode.
