Naval Operations Support Group Pacific, U.S. Naval Amphibious Base

Coronado, CA 92155

(Ref. Serial 1058, 19 June 1967)

Subj:     Letter of Appreciation for Devotion to Duty in Support of Project Zulu

Ref:       (a) tng msg 091955z Jan 1967

1.       Acting in direct response to reference (a), you participated as an important member of the Project ZULU Team during the period January - May 1967.  Your constructive suggestions relating to modifications of the craft, and your high skills in accomplishing the difficult tasks associated with completing the project.

2.       Your resolute efforts contributed significantly to the timely and successful creation of Project ZULU. The individual actions taken by you on your own initiative materially strengthen the final product and merit this document of appreciation.

3.       Project ZULU provided NAVSUPGRUPAC, SEAL Team and BOATSUPPU-1 personnel with a first generation, organic, tailored flotilla of fighting support craft.

4.       You may take considerable personal pride in the fact that you have contributed to an unprecedented exploitation of technology, both in terms of combining available inventory and developmental components into the strongest system possible and claim in terms of ordering the requisite resources on an extremely short time schedule.

5.       You, through your outstanding participation in Project ZULU, have helped to create a flotilla that reflects great credit upon you personally, and upon the United States Navy.

Well Done.

T.R. Kaine
